What is it?
Campus for All is an Inclusive Post Secondary Education (IPSE) program established in cooperation with People First Regina and the University of Regina (Faculty of Education and Registrar’s Office) to provide adults who have an intellectual disability with the opportunity to make social connections, and to participate in an educational experience by attending a post secondary educational institution. Within a supported environment, students audit classes, do modified course assignments, attempt to improve their literacy skills, and develop mutually satisfying relationships with their fellow students.
Why get involved?
Campus For All Students have the opportunity to:
- audit courses
- participate in class discussions and group work
- take modified exams, if desired
- attend campus events
- use the gym, library, and other campus facilities
- create peer social networks
- work with a literacy tutor
- literacy assessments
- individualized literacy plans (ILP)
- training for student volunteers as literacy tutors
- ongoing support for both the tutors and students
Everyone Benefits from Campus for All
Campus for All students have the opportunity to attend university. It has been described as “an impossible dream come true” by Campus for All students and their families
University Instructors have the opportunity to model inclusive education strategies in real and practical ways in the classroom. Why lecture when you can demonstrate?
University Students have the opportunity to interact with students who have intellectual disabilities, both in group situations as fellow students, or one-on-one as volunteer tutors. Students also experience inclusive education strategies modelled in real and practical ways in the classroom.
The Entire University Community is enriched when its members embrace opportunities to improve the lives of those within the greater community of Regina.
The Campus For All program is currently full and as such, applications are not being accepted at this time. Updates to the application and admission process will be posted as they are available.
